Ex international Felix Owolabi knows what it takes when a coach is building a team. It is against this background that he is not expecting finesse on the side of the Eagles now and in the near future.
And as the Eagles play Namibia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier tomorrow in Calabar, Owolobi expects the Eagles to win but he said that nobody should expect a classic and smooth victory that would be devoid of errors on the side of Eagles.
“This is because they are not yet consistent,” Owolabi said in a telephone interview. He was quitting the Eagles at the time Stephen Keshi was coming in. He knows Keshi well and wants Nigerians to be patient with him.
“When the team is consistent, when Keshi attains a reasonable stage in the process of building a team, everybody will see the flair in the team. Right now, it cannot be so. Don’t expect any fantastic outing now. He is doing the right thing but must begin to get it right after about seven matches.
Nigerians are not generally patient people. He has to win against Namibia and convince people that he is on the right track. If he doesn’t win well against Namibia he should expect the worst from Nigerians and even the federation,” Owolabi said.
