The snowballing crisis in Sudan
On Wednesday, June 5, 2019, paramilitary squads, notably the neo-Janjaweed Rapid Support Forces, RSF, trying to quell protests that continued even after the ousting of President Omar Al Bashir’s 30-year regime, opened fire directly on the protesters.
13 dead as Sudan military rulers break up sit-in
Sudan’s military rulers forcefully broke up a weeks-long sit-in outside Khartoum’s army headquarters on Monday leaving at least 13 dead and dozens wounded, protesters said, as gunfire rang out and black smoke shrouded the city.

The people’s revolt in Algeria and Sudan
Young people are leading a people’s revolution in Algeria and Sudan, both developments remind us forcefully of the wages of mis-governance, the power of the people to seize control of their own destiny, and the role that the youth can play in a country’s development process. It is encouraging to see that in both countries, we are witnessing the triumph of the people’s will. In Algeria and Sudan, it is Arab Spring (or Winter?) all over, with the people saying No to Repression, No to Dictatorship, No to the abuse of power.
