Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations.

A source in the 650,000-capacity refinery that pleaded to be anonymous said the refinery introduced the cut to ease transportation costs ahead of Christmas, when millions of Nigerians travel across states to reunite with family.

Domestic petrol supply from Dangote Refinery rose sharply in November 2025, increasing by 37.7 percent to 23.52 million litres per day from 17.08 million litres per day in October, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and several other depot operators have reduced the average gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, to N840 per litre, down from N843 per litre.

Partners for National Economic Progress (PANEP) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to use his executive powers to ensure the supply of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery, describing the move as crucial to resolving challenges in Nigeria’s oil sector.

Hundreds of students under the aegis of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) on Tuesday held a solidarity rally in Abuja, urging the Federal Government to protect and support the Dangote Refinery as a key driver of Nigeria’s industrial and economic growth.

Africa’s foremost industrialist, Aliko Dangote, weekend, announced plans to expand the capacity of Dangote Refinery from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day, making it the largest refinery in the world upon completion.

Energy experts have described the emergence of the Dangote Refinery as a bold demonstration of how import substitution and local capacity development can drive Africa’s energy independence and economic transformation.
