Nigeria’s government on Wednesday hit back at claims that President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure had been a failure but refused to say if he would seek re-election.

BARELY 24 hours after former President Olusegun Obasanjo advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019, the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting was flooded with the campaign fez caps with the inscription, “Continuity ’19: Muhammadu Buhari/Osinbajo”.

Cheif Olusegun Obasanjo has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against taking part in the 2019 presidential election saying that ‘the situation that made Nigerians to vote massively to get my brother Jonathan off the horse is playing itself out again.’

Former  Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Chief Olu Falae has said he would not be intimidated over his sad experiences in the hands of rampaging herdsmen and expressed disappointment over the silence of President Muhammadu Buhari on the matter, following the recent attack on his farm in Ondo State.

President Muhammadu Buhari has formally reacted to the release of the 2019 election timetable and schedule of activities by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, warning actors in the political space against a resort to violence in an attempt to sway electoral support, or in the event that they are rejected at the polls.
