As preparations for the Warri Peace Marathon gather momentum, traditional ruler of the Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiame Ikenwoli has given his approval and prayed for a successful debut of the event billed for May 28.

Just like his compatriot Stephen Kiprotich did four years ago at the London Olympics where he scaled Kenyan and Ethiopian hurdles to make history as the first Ugandan man to win an Olympic marathon gold, Timothy Toroitich will also be aiming to make a little piece of history at the fourth IAAF Bronze Label Okpekpe international 10km road race as the first Ugandan to win the title.

Nigeria will join the rest of the Olympic family to celebrate the 2016 Olympic Day celebration on May 25, 2016. The event is expected to be celebrated in the 36 states of the federation; including the Federal Capital territory, Abuja.
