Towards the end of last week, six students of Graphic Department of Yaba College of Technology and four Lagos-based photographers left Nigeria for Paris, France where they are currently participating in a photographic exhibition along with their counterparts from the Nationale Fine Art School of Paris.

Adetayo recalled that when the school started in 1995, nobody knew that it would become a force to reckon with in secondary education not only among Adventists, but in Nigeria at large. The school provides a means of livelihood to 150 workers, family members, dependents, contractors and artisans.

Records of most schools in Nigeria, either public or private, are kept manually, in paper form. With the passage of time, vital records and information are lost as the papers get defaced. In the case of primary schools, under no circumstance should any school have more than one headmaster and one vice- headmaster who must teach. What happens is that when you have six principals, all the six don’t teach. That created a huge over head.

The scholarship programme, which is being coordinated by the Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi Foundation (ASMAF(), will provide enough financial assistance that will cover tuition, accommodation and upkeep of beneficiaries for a period of up to five years, depending on the course, and subject to maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

Everyone can sit back and think of the enormous damage being caused to the students. I’m sure their own children are also involved.
