The Police in Benue State, recently, got a shocking revelation from one of the arrested suspected criminals who deals in illegal arms in the state. The occasion was during a parade by the new Commissioner of police in the state, Paul Yakadi, after his command recorded a breakthrough by arresting about 55 cult and armed robbery suspects in a major operation and clampdown on masterminds of crimes and criminality in the state.

In terms of crime and criminality in Nigeria, Anambra State is, no doubt, rated high. This is not just because it is in the heart of the South-East but also shares borders with many other states, a situation that makes it easy for criminals to penetrate. “After my rent expired, I paid N130,000 to my landlady on February 2, 2015 and for about a month, they didn’t trouble me or my children but in April, they renewed the attacks. A 26-year old manager of a transport firm, Godday Haulage limited, located at Apapa area of Lagos, Tochukwu Onwuatudo, has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, Fatai Owoseni, to come to his aid as his life is being threatened by the commander of a vigilante group in Maza-Maza area of the state.

“Many people have fallen victim to this ‘one chance’ taxi drivers along this expressway. We have always warned them to board cabs or buses at the motor parks, but they seem to always be in a hurry. Many of the victims have been heartbroken after they were swindled by the gang. People should be careful of the type of vehicles they board because we are now in ‘ember’ months when the swindlers and other criminals thrive.”

NSUKKA — A nine-year-old primary five pupil and daughter of a liquor dealer at Ukehe community in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, Ukamaka Eze, Monday, gave a heart-rending account of how gun men suspected to be hired assassins, pumped bullets into his father’s body at very close range, in their residence. The father died few hours later at a private hospital in the area after hospital authorities bluntly refused to give first aid treatment, insisting on the presentation of a police report.
