Ile-Ife, as a religious and cultural matrix of the Yorubas and its cradle, has unique importance in its history. Many, if not all Obas in Yorubaland, left Ile-Ife for their various settlements. The recent nomination, of Ooni elect –Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, a forty-one year old real estate magnate and Prince from the Geisi Ruling House of Ile-Ife did not come easy. He would become the 51st Ooni of Ife after fulfillment of all processes for the exalted stool.

“Get me a money doubling ring. They call it evergreen pocket. Every money you spend finds its way back to your pocket. Hahahaha.” No doubt, India and Africa are onto a strong partnership that may be enduring, mutually beneficial, with strong implications for development. That is the true talisman. Ever potent, ever sure.

These days, the issues of insecurity and traumatic traffic situation in Lagos metropolis have continued to dominate discussions. Everywhere one goes, in offices, business environments, relaxation centres, motor parks among other places, Lagosians debate these issues with resentment: traffic situation getting worse, crime rate suddenly increasing, and business and commercial activities slowing down.

As a social commenter and writer on a brazenly corrupt society like Nigeria, it’s hard not to be viewed as a doomsday prophet like the biblical Jeremiah. This is because any predictions made for a morally decaying polity would usually result in an immoral judgment so to speak.

Incidents of killing, robbery, rape, maiming and kidnapping by the cattle herdsmen have inflicted pains on most farmers, even as farm produce have been drastically affected. Farmers, leaving in fear, have scampered to safety in desperate bids to avoid being hacked down by the rampaging herdsmen.
