The Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), Mr. Eddie Efekoha in this Interview with Favour Nnabugwu in Abuja, talks about the problem of one price fits it all, the position of NIA on risk based capital and the plan to move the industry forward.

Nigeria has failed to develop because we abandoned the cheapest electricity power source. The cheapest electricity source of is coal. Nigeria’s Energy Mix is currently dominated by hydro (Water) and thermal (gas) but the country is yet to stabilise on 5000 Mega Watts, (MW) . It is strange that coal which we have in abundance is yet to find accommodation in our electricity generation.

For 10 days beginning October 28, the oil city of Warri, Delta State was alive as the 2016 Jubilee Word Festival, held at the International Gospel Centre, headquarters of Papa Ayo and Mama Helen Oritsejafor’s Word of Life Bible Church, featured local and international gospel preachers, including PFN National President, Rev. Felix Omobude; Bishop George Bloomer; Dr. Ini Okpon, Rev. Ayuk R. Ayuk and American televangelist, Rev. Benny Hinn. The theme of the conference was, Rock of Ages. After ministering for two days at the event, Benny Hinn who, in 2005, caused a stir after a failed crusade in Lagos where he screamed blue murder about shoddy preparations by the local organisers, spoke to Sunday Vanguard on the incident and many other issues about Nigeria.

The crux of the problem we are having in Nigeria is that majority of people at the helm of affairs don’t care about the welfare of the ordinary citizens. All they are after is paraphernalia of the office they occupy, the money that come their way through the office which they use to travel abroad every now and then. But as long as their primary responsibility is concerned which is security of lives and property, they find it difficult to do their work of empowering the people to become productive.

I just simply love interiors. I love making places beautiful. I believe in the aphorism that says:“Home is where a person’s heart is. I love people coming home and being happy that they are home.” I’m also passionate about families and how they live. Frankly, one spends so much time in life working to be able to buy a house with the hope of being able to furnish it properly and enjoy.
