The human experience: Voices and sounds
THE five senses are the instruments for navigation through our foray in life. They guide us in different ways but they work best when all are at our disposable. In cases where some are missing; in the case of the blind, the vision is compromised but the sense of hearing steps in to become extra sensitive and be a tour guide very effectively.
The human experience: Voices and sounds
Anytime you find yourself interrupting some one by saying things like “ I know just how you feel†or “ me too; something similar happened to me!†you are being self absorbed. The wisest people in the world are attentive when you talk to them, they look at you, and they are not playing a movie in their minds about similar situations, or even imagining themselves in the exact same situation.
The human experience: Emotions
The beginning of life starts with all innocence and no conflict, a baby just accepts and adapts without struggle, an adult on the other hand struggles and refuses to adapt till he is left broken, and bruised.
The human experience: Our stories
There are also people who tell so many lies about their life that they eventually become a source of ridicule but my attitude has always been to believe anything I am told as long as it does not directly affect me adversely; I don’t have the energy to start sorting out stories that are at best irrelevant. I however get concerned that people often get left behind by other people’s expectations and live out a story that is not their own.
The Human experience; eyes(2)
THE human eyes have been done a disservice by their hosts. We actually don’t use them just for the sake of vision, the human eyes are trained from birth to judge, to disparage, to select, appreciate or condemn.
The human experience; the eyes
A lot of depressed rich people can confirm that the acquisition of more stuff is not necessarily nirvana, inner disquiet and the unexplained hunger that drives most people into spiritual arenas is a human experience that is common to all.
On a lighter note
I WOKE up to the ear piercing scream of a petrified actress and my 20 minute doze on a local flight from the nation’s capital back to Lagos was severed rather abruptly. Before I could get my bearing and fully wake up, my stomach churned as it seemed to drop in that sickening manner that feels like your intestines are falling out when a rollercoaster takes what seems like a death plunge towards the ground at break neck speed.
Cracked wide open (3)
There is a choice to be made, you can hold on to your frantic ambition and run yourself ragged, absent from your own life or surrender to a power that is all knowing, all seeing and all present and still achieve all you ever thought or more !
Cracked wide open (2)
And yes, that’s why we are collectively forgetful, I took a poll of people in their twenties and they were no better than me and my absent minded friends! The realisation started a quest in me for meaning, for more and this time not more things but more stillness, more peace.
