Success replaces Ighalo, saves Watford

Substitute Isaac Success yesterday saved Watford from a home loss when his goal secured a point for his team as they twice came from behind in a Vicarage Road thriller against Bournemouth.

Ironically, Success came in for his compatriot, Odion Ighalo in the 58th minute and seven minutes later rose high above the Bournemouth defence to place a lovely header beyond Artur Boruc in goal. Callum Wilson headed the Cherries ahead from Junior Stanislas’ deflected cross before Artur Boruc’s double save denied Watford’s Nordin Amrabat.

Isaac Success celebrates goal against AFC Bournemouth

Watford levelled through captain Troy Deeney’s 99th goal for the club just after the break, a close-range finish after fine work by Morocco international Amrabat.

Deeney is now Watford’s joint-highest Premier League goalscorer with Ighalo on 16 goals. Substitute Joshua King restored Bournemouth’s lead with a long-range deflected finish moments after coming on before Success equalised with a header following José Holebas’ free-kick.

Incredibly, Bournemouth hit the woodwork three times. Jack Wilshire was twice denied by the post while Stanislas’s free-kick rattled the bar late on.
