ASABA—WORRIED by the continued attacks on oil installations, the President-General of Isoko Development Union, IDU, Chief Iduh Amadhe, has charged the Federal Government to initiate a dialogue that will involve all stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the problem of the Niger Delta region.

Urging the Niger Delta Avengers and other militant groups to channel their grievances through constituted platforms, he condemned in strong terms the acts of kidnapping, hostage taking and vandalism of oil and gas pipelines.

Enjoining the youths to shun violent confrontation and militancy, he told the Federal Government to allow the people of the Niger Delta region to own 65 percent of the oil wells in the region.

Amadhe in a statement, commended the state Houses of Assembly in South-South and South- East for urging the Federal Government to review ownership structure of oil wells to give 65 percent control to the people.

Saying that the lawmakers were waking up from their slumber, he insisted that the region would have been better “if the lawmakers had been up and doing.”
