ONITSHA—Njikoka Local Government Area in Anambra State, has embarked on a N500m ultra modern international timber and general goods market in Enugwu- Agidi community.

Chairman of the council, Mr. Emeka Onuorah at the occasion of the flag-off of the market on the Enugu/ Onitsha expressway, by the Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, said that the market was abandoned for about 23 years, though started under the Col. Mike Atta military government.

“When l came into office as chairman l decided to start the project again to make sure that the people of Enugwu- Agidi and Njikoka in general benefit from the project.”

Onuorah said the project was being carried out through individual efforts with the council’s assistance.

He added that the first phase had been completed while the second phase would soon commence.

Onuorah appealed to the indigenes and residents to avail themselves of the opportunity of owning a shop in the market by subscribing as soon as possible.

Earlier,  the Deputy Governor, while flagging off the project, advised other council chairmen to emulate Onuorah’s development project  aimed at providing good governance to the people.
