A community-based organization, LikeMinds Project, has called on state governments to provide temporary locations of succour for Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.

According to the group, IDP camps house less than 10 percent of the conflict victims and the majority of IDPs are living in the bushes, streets or with relatives in host communities.

The group’s Project Coordinator, Dr. Fatima Kyari, said: “At Dalori camp in August, camp officials told us that there are more than 17,000 people in the camp.

“This included 8,001 children, whose ages ranged from six months to four years. About 15 percent (1,200) are unaccompanied. That is, they have lost both parents.”

Kyari said the organization would be holding a fund-raising event to make lives of the vulnerable ones in the society better.
