Bauchi—The Bauchi State governor-elect, Mohammed Abubakar has vowed to recover all state resources frittered away by the out-going Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  led administration.

Abubakar spoke yesterday during the inauguration of the state re-branding project in Bauchi.

Represented by the deputy governor-elect Nuhu Gidado, Abubakar expressed worry over the financial recklessness in the state, lamenting how state resources were lost under the PDP administration in the state.

He said: “what Bauchi as a state is currently brandishing is an immeasurable financial recklessness culminating into massive indebtedness.

“The task of rejuvenating the image of our dear state and reconnecting with the glory of the past is not an easy work and that is what has necessitated the re-branding project today.”

Abubakar further said that the menace of massive youth restiveness in the state, saying that “now that the opposition and progressive advocacy has culminated into a mandate of the generality of Bauchi State populace, we are charged to do things differently.

”We are committed to applying our intellect, maximizing our will and leverage our relationships to make things work in fulfilment of  our promises.

“On assumption of duties as a government, we will focus on our quick win programmes which include the tackling of youth restiveness, poor, environmental sanitation and widespread corruption and corrupt practices.

“In this regard, let us once more be categorical that state resources frittered away will be recovered. This will be in addition to overhauling of the civil service that is currently dysfunctional, indolent and lacking.”

Abubakar revealed that a major commercial bank had stepped forward to assist the in-coming administration to conduct a forensic audit of the entire state and local government personnel status with a view to developing a biometric data.
