Ngwa United Alliance NUA, a non-profit organisation based in the United States, has demanded that INEC demonstrate an unquestionable transparency in the conduct of the governorship supplementary election in Abia State scheduled for tomorrow.

NUA insisted that the judicious option for INEC, was to declare Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu governor, having scored a total of 248,459 votes against his closest rival Alex Otti of APGA’s total of 165,406, which was a clear lead with 83,053.

The organisation demanded that any supplementary election, must be seen by all to be fair and above board.

In a press conference addressed by the Organisation’s Project 2015 Committee Chairman, Elder Ogbonna Clement, in Los Angeles, California, USA, yesterday, the group insisted that INEC’s guidelines, which included the requirement that only voters with PVCs and those that met the accreditation criteria could participate, must be  strictly adhered to.

On no account, Clement said, will the citizens of Abia State accept fraudulent results that “can emanate from possible manual voting or compromised INEC officers.

“From all available public records, it is clear that the polling units where INEC intends to re-run the elections in Abia State contain less than 140,000 voters with PVC cards and at no time has state-wide elections yielded 100 per cent turn-out anywhere, anything grossly variant shall be seen as an unacceptable outcome.”

Elder Clement stated that his Committee has received  reports alleging plans by the APGA candidate, Dr. Alex Otti, and members of his campaign team to rig the supplementary elections through the intimidation of voters and INEC personnel, using privately acquired military personnel and other security outfits.
