Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, yesterday in Lagos, stepped up planned industrial action against the Ministry of Defence over lingering issues of unpaid workers salaries and other labour matters.
The union also insisted that activities of the ministry would be crippled once its ultimatum to the management of the ministry expired without positive response. The union had last week issued a 14 day ultimatum to the Ministry of Defense to convene a meeting to address lingering issues on workers salaries and welfares or face industrial action.
ASCSN threatened to cripple operations of the Ministry unless it paid thousands of its civilian employees their allowances, including promotion arrears outstanding since 2011.
