CHAIRMAN of House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has said that except the Federal Government intervenes, more Nigerians who are on death row in Indonesia may still be executed.
She said this against the backdrop of the recent execution of a Nigerian, Mr. Daniel Enemuo, by Indonesian authorities for drug related offence.
Dabiri-Erewa in a statement expressed disappointment at the action of Indonesian government despite persistent pleas by the Federal Government.
She further cautioned Nigerians abroad to desist from illegal activities, adding that the Nigerian government has always been lukewarm towards her troubled citizens in foreign lands.
In addition, she called on the electorates to ensure that a candidate who would protect their interest within and outside the country is voted in.
‘’In spite of our so called booming economy and high GDP, how can one explain why Nigerian youths are leaving the country in droves in search of job opportunities in other lands. A lot of them are seeking hope in hopelessness,’’ she added.
