Husband seeks dissolution of 11-year-old marriage

Ado-Ekiti – Mr Muyiwa Owolabi, 43, on Tuesday approached an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court, seeking dissolution of his 11-year-old marriage to his wife, Tinuola, on the ground of adultery.

The case first came up for mention on Aug. 18.

Muyiwa said he caught his wife several times committing the act with several men.

Muyiwa, who is a father of two, said there was a particular time he saw a conversation message on his wife’s phone.

He said that when he checked, it was his junior in school who sent the message to her.

Muyiwa said he warned his wife to desist from such act and deleted the man’s number, but instead she saved the number with a female name.

According to him, her promiscuous lifestyle compelled him to send her packing.

He said it later took the intervention of his family to settle the matter.

Muyiwa said there was a time he was not around, his wife came in the company of her mother and took the children away without his consent.

He said there was another incident when he seized his wife’s phone and when he accessed the phone, he saw her concubines’ messages and pictures.

The petitioner said he downloaded the messages, the pictures and printed them out as evidence.

He, therefore, prayed the court to grant him the custody of the children because they lacked proper care and attention by their mother.

The President of the Court, Mr Joseph Ogunsemi, after hearing from the petitioner, adjourned the case to Sept. 26 for the respondent to open her defense.
