Lokoja — The All Progressives Congress, APC, Kogi State chapter has suspended some of its members for taking the party to court.

A faction of the party had instituted series of suits challenging the state and local government congresses of the party held in April, asking for the cancellation of the congresses among other reliefs.

However, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Hardy Ametuo, announced their suspension during the inauguration of local government executives, yesterday, in Lokoja.

Ametuo said their suspension was in line with the party’s constitution which stipulates penalties for anyone or group of persons who challenges the party in court.

He said: ”Soon after the congress, this group of people who did not take part in the election raised some issues and the party immediately set up a reconciliatory committee to look into their grievances.

”The reconciliatory committee called for a meeting in which some of these people did not attend. We believe that these people are agents of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, sent to destabilise the party.

”It is just surprising that without waiting for the outcome of the reconciliatory committee, these people went ahead to challenge the party in court. Their action has gone against the constitution of the party and they are hereby suspended and no longer bonafide members of the party.”

Ametuo then eulogized the North Central zone of the party for conceding the position of the National Women leader to the state, pointing out that the position had already been given to Hajia Ramotu Tijani for her selfless service to the party.

He also stated that the party would take over power from the PDP in the state during the 2015 general elections as the people were tired of the “clueless administration” of the state by the PDP.
