Babafemi Olusola, a legislative aide to the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has resigned.

His resignation occurred some two weeks before the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

In a letter addressed to Fadahunsi, an All Progressives Congress chieftain, Olusola said his resignation was with “immediate effect”.

According to Olusola in the letter dated July 30, 2026, his decision to resign was in obedience to his conscience and in the best interest of the people of Oriade Local Government where he hails from.

“This decision was not made lightly. However, after deep reflection, I have resolved to step down in obedience to my conscience, my fear of God, and my conviction that it is in the best interest of the good people of Oriade Local Government, whose welfare must remain my foremost consideration,” he wrote.

Olusola appreciated the lawmaker for the opportunity and privilege to serve under his leadership.

“I remain grateful for the confidence you reposed in me and for the invaluable experience gained during my time in your office,” he said.

The resignation of Olusola joins the long list of resignations from the camps of the APC and Accord Party as permutations and re-alignments intensify ahead of the August governorship election, which is expected to be keenly contested between the two main contenders – Accord Party’s Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, and APC’s Bola Oyebamiji, a former finance commissioner with ex-governor Gboyega Oyetola.
