SOKOTO — The newly elected Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Sokoto Branch, Barrister Bashir Muazu Jodi, has pledged to lead the association with integrity, professionalism and a commitment to the rule of law, while expressing appreciation to key stakeholders for their support during the election.
Jodi, in separate messages, thanked former Sokoto State Governor and Senator, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and Governor Ahmed Aliyu for their encouragement and goodwill throughout the electoral process.
He said the support and guidance he received from political leaders and members of the legal community contributed to his emergence as chairman of the NBA’s Caliphate Bar.
In his message to Senator Wamakko, Jodi expressed gratitude for what he described as the former governor’s fatherly counsel, prayers and encouragement.
According to him, Wamakko urged him to remain steadfast and confident, reminding him that success comes through the will of God rather than human influence.
Jodi said the advice strengthened his resolve to remain focused and committed throughout the election.
He also commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for supporting the legal profession and fostering constructive engagement between government institutions and the legal community.
The NBA chairman pledged that the Caliphate Bar would sustain a cordial and productive relationship with the Sokoto State Government and other stakeholders in the justice sector.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting the rule of law, improving access to justice and supporting initiatives that strengthen democratic governance and institutional accountability.
Jodi also thanked members of the NBA, Sokoto Branch, for the confidence reposed in him and the newly elected executive committee, describing the mandate as both an honour and a responsibility.
He assured members that the new leadership would prioritise lawyers’ welfare, promote professional development and strengthen the association’s role in national conversations on legal and constitutional issues.
According to him, the administration will be guided by the principles of integrity, service, competence and strict adherence to the ethics of the legal profession.
Jodi appealed for the continued support and cooperation of members, expressing confidence that, through unity and dedication, the Caliphate Bar would achieve greater progress and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of justice and the legal profession in Nigeria.
