The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) will host the Nigeria Public Service Lecture Series and Awards 2026 on June 23 in Abuja as part of activities marking the United Nations Public Service Day.

The event, themed “Transforming Public Institutions: Advancing Innovation, Participation and Inclusion,” will take place at Nicon Luxury Hotel and is expected to bring together senior public officials, policymakers, development partners, civil society organisations and other governance stakeholders.

According to the organisers, the lecture series will provide a platform for dialogue on strengthening public institutions and advancing public service reforms in Nigeria.

It is also aimed at promoting the exchange of ideas and best practices while exploring practical solutions for building innovative, inclusive, accountable and citizen-centred institutions capable of meeting the aspirations of Nigerians.

Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, will chair the event, while former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Bukar Goni Aji, is scheduled to deliver the lead lecture.

The programme will culminate in the Nigeria Public Service Awards Dinner, where outstanding public institutions and individuals will be honoured for excellence in public service reforms, innovation, service delivery and impactful governance.

Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, D. I. Arabi, said the event reflects the bureau’s commitment to promoting excellence in public service and supporting reforms that improve the efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness of public institutions.

He noted that the lecture series and awards would provide an opportunity for Nigeria to join the global community in commemorating the United Nations Public Service Day while celebrating innovation, reform and excellence in public service delivery.
