KWALE – STAKEHOLDERS from Ndokwa East Local Government Area; including HOSTCOM executives, Clan and Community Presidents-General, Community Development Committee Chairmen, and other grassroots leaders Wednesday passed a vote of Confidence on President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and DESOPADEC leadership.

The vote was passed during a strategic meeting and engagement with the representative of Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Dr. Charles Olisa.

The engagement, held in Kwale, headquarters of Ndokwa East LGA, Delta State, brought together key community leaders from DESOPADEC mandate areas across the local government.

It was designed to strengthen dialogue, enhance collaboration, and deepen stakeholder engagement between the Ndokwa representative on the DESOPADEC Governing Board and the communities he serves.

At the meeting, stakeholders passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending him for his “purposeful leadership, unwavering commitment to national unity, and firm determination to steer Nigeria on the path of renewed hope.”

A similar vote of confidence was extended to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whom the stakeholders described as a leader “whose dedication to good governance, peace, and grassroots development continues to inspire confidence among the people of Delta State.”

The stakeholders also expressed confidence in DESOPADEC under the leadership of Board Chairman Olorogun John Nani and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Chief Festus Ochonogor, applauding their commitment to infrastructure development, community empowerment, and institutional reforms across the Commission’s mandate areas.

Speaking on behalf of the Ndokwa East stakeholders, Prince Richard Obi, President-General of Abuator Community, described DESOPADEC’s recent interventions as “visible, impactful, and worthy of commendation.” He noted that sustained cooperation between government institutions and community leaders would further accelerate development in the area.

In his address, Dr. Olisa underscored the importance of continuous consultation and inclusive governance in delivering meaningful development to oil-producing communities. He stressed that active engagement with community leadership structures is essential to ensuring that projects and interventions truly reflect the needs and aspirations of the people.

Olisa assured those present that the impact of DESOPADEC under the current Board would be felt across the Ndokwa nation. He highlighted several completed projects alongside ongoing initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life in various communities.

While enumerating people-oriented projects sited in different communities across Ndokwa East, he urged critical stakeholders to consistently draw the Commission’s attention to stalled or delayed projects, reaffirming that the Board remains committed to ensuring their timely completion.

The DESOPADEC Board member also commended host communities for maintaining an enabling environment for multinational oil companies to operate, observing that this cooperative posture has contributed to increased production in the oil and gas sector; a development that benefits both the region and the nation.
