In preparation to the forthcoming 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Borno State has formally inaugurated its Transitional and the Membership Registration Committees.

This marked a significant milestone in the party’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its structure ahead of the much anticipated polls.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday, 12th January 2026 at the Grand Pinnacle Hotels, Maiduguri, which was attended by party leaders, stakeholders and large number of supporters from across the state.

The event was graced by the Deputy National Chairman, North-East, Hon. Babagana Buhari, whose presence further underscored the importance that the national leadership of the party attaches to the development of ADC in the region.

The Borno State Transitional Committee is to be chaired by Hon. Alhaji Ali Wurge, with Hon. Fali Wabulari sworn in as Secretary.

Meanwhile, the ADC Membership Registration Committee is headed by Hon. Peter Biye, with Hon. Kolo Bukar as Secretary.

Other notable party leaders and stakeholders inaugurated at the event include H.E. Kashim Imam Matawalle of Borno, Hon. Dr. Nicolas Msheliza, Hon. Bulama Fugu (former Speaker, House of Assembly), Hon. Attom Magira, Alhaji Umar Alkali Nasco, Hon. Barr.Umara Kumalia and Hon. Tijjani Amadu Yarwama.

Also included are Hajiya Fatima Zarah, HE. Mohammad Ali Jajari (former governorship aspirant), Hajiya Hauwa Kwajafa, Hon. Bukar Kachallah, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Gadai, Alhaji Lawan Kolomi, Hon. Babakura Abba Yusuf among other prominent party members.

In a show of commitment to the growth of the party, Hon. Attom Magira Attom donated a party office to the ADC, a gesture that was widely applauded by attendees and party leadership.

Speaking at the occasion, the ADC leader in Borno, Kashim Imam Matawalle of Borno, urged party stakeholders and members “to remain bold, united, and steadfast in their commitment to the ideals and progress of the ADC”.

He expressed strong confidence in the party’s growing influence, noting that the ADC is strategically positioned to take over Borno State and Nigeria at large.

Meanwhile, the event recorded a massive turnout of party members and supporters, a development observers say is a clear indication of unity, renewed energy, and growing acceptance of the ADC in Borno State. The large attendance further affirms the party’s readiness to compete and win in the forthcoming elections.

The inauguration of the committees, it was gathered, is expected to accelerate grassroots mobilization, strengthen party administration, and deepen internal cohesion as the ADC continues to consolidate its presence across the state.
