Renowned Nigerian storyteller and creative powerhouse, Opeyemi Akintunde, has once again made waves in the faith-based film industry as her latest film, SOLD, clinched the Viewers’ Choice Award for Movie of the Year at the prestigious Kingdom Film Festival (KFF) 2025.
The gripping and emotionally charged film emerged winner in a highly competitive category that featured other top contenders such as Under Siege, Olukoya, Anointed but Arrested, Black Collar, and Finding Me.
SOLD tells a timely story of love, emotional manipulation, and the spiritual consequences of unchecked flirtation. Its bold narrative and relatable characters struck a deep chord with thousands of viewers globally, earning it a groundswell of support and votes from the public.
“We’re overwhelmed by the love and support,” said Akintunde in her post-win remarks. “This award belongs to every supporter & viewer who saw a piece of themselves in SOLD. Our goal was simple: to tell the truth…wrapped in love, art, and grace. To God be all the glory!”
The Kingdom Film Festival, known for celebrating impactful, value-driven storytelling, recorded an unprecedented number of votes this year, making SOLD’s win even more significant. The festival’s emphasis on truth, purpose, and Christian values aligns deeply with Akintunde’s body of work.
With this milestone, the Deep Thoughts brand—helmed by Opeyemi Akintunde—is set to expand its reach with more global partnerships, film projects, and strategic digital distribution aimed at impacting hearts across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
