In a bold move to consolidate its foothold in Nigeria’s fast-growing consumer goods market, Henkel Nigeria on Monday introduced two new innovative cleaning products.
WAW complete 5-in-1 liquid detergent and WAW active 5 all purpose cleaner, tailored to meet the specific needs of Nigerian households.
The launch, which took place in Lagos, marks a significant expansion of Henkel’s popular WAW brand portfolio and underscores the company’s strategy of driving growth through localized innovation and consumer-centric solutions.
Speaking at the launch event, the Managing Director of Henkel Nigeria, Rajat Kapur, said the introduction of the new products aligns with Henkel’s global commitment to innovation, while also addressing the everyday cleaning challenges of Nigerian consumers.
“Our vision is to make every load of laundry not just cleaner, but smarter,” Kapur stated.
“The WAW All Purpose and Liquid Detergent launch strengthens our long-standing reputation as a pioneer in laundry and home care innovation. We are focused on delivering solutions that match evolving consumer habits and environmental realities.”
The new waw complete 5-in-1 liquid detergent offers deep cleaning, long-lasting fragrance, and fabric protection, and is specially formulated to tackle tough stains, a common need in Nigerian households where colored fabrics are prevalent. Similarly, the waw active 5 all purpose cleaner delivers versatile cleaning power for a range of surfaces.
Emphasizing that the launch was driven by detailed consumer insights and market research, the Brand Manager for Henkel Nigeria, Ifeyinwa Nnaji said: “These innovative products embody our dedication to providing effective, convenient, and high-quality cleaning solutions tailored to the needs of Nigerian households.”
“This launch marks another step forward in our mission to make everyday cleaning more powerful and efficient for our consumers.”
Both products are now available across retail outlets nationwide in multiple pack sizes, aimed at serving various income segments and household needs.
With Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector projected to grow steadily despite economic headwinds, Henkel’s strategic focus on home care solutions positions it as a key player in a competitive market.
Industry observers note that the company’s dual advantage of international R&D and local adaptation gives it a unique edge. Henkel also reaffirmed its broader commitment to sustainability, local sourcing, and community development.
Kapur hinted at more consumer-oriented products in the pipeline, reinforcing the company’s long-term plan to remain a trusted partner in home care across Africa’s largest economy.
“This is only the beginning. With WAW, we will consistently champion innovations that empower Nigerian homes,” Kapur added.
