Abuja, Nigeria – The Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC) successfully hosted its 2025 Public Lecture on January 28, 2025, at the Exhibition Pavilion, International Conference Centre, Abuja.

Themed “Cultural Renaissance and the Creative Economy: Harnessing African and Diaspora Cultural Resources for Digital Transformation,” the lecture brought together esteemed scholars, culture enthusiasts and industry experts to explore the vast potential of Africa’s cultural resources in driving digital transformation and economic growth.

In her welcome address, Hon. Aisha Adamu-Augie, Director-General of CBAAC, emphasised the importance of harnessing African cultural resources for digital transformation. “Our cultural heritage is a treasure trove of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, waiting to be further harnessed and showcased to the rest of the world,” she said.

The lecture featured a keynote presentation by Professor Dugga, who delved into the connections between cultural renaissance, creative economy and digital transformation. A panel discussion followed featuring erudite panellists who shared their expertise on the opportunities and challenges facing the African creative economy.

The event aimed to promote a cultural renaissance that celebrates Africa’s diversity, creativity and resilience. It also sought to identify practical strategies for harnessing African cultural resources for digital transformation and economic growth.

The CBAAC 2025 Public Lecture was attended by dignitaries, scholars and culture enthusiasts from across Nigeria and beyond.
