Tertiary institutions across the country have received a boost under the Train the Trainers programme where Vice-Chancellors, Deputy Vice- Chancellors, Provosts, Rectors, Registrars, Deans, Heads of Department and other principal stakeholders in our tertiary institutions were meant to be trained on how to run an institution with little or no stress.

Under this initiative, the aforementioned stakeholders will be opportune to meet with their foreign counterparts under renowned facilitators to bring pro- activeness into the education sector.

Speaking at a media parley in Lagos, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, Chairman, Executive Trainers Limited stated that the programme for these stakeholders amongst others, aims at addressing the issues of self development for principal stakeholders in tertiary institutions, funding of our tertiary institutions, problems of students getting admission into tertiary institutions and collaboration with foreign institutions.

Revolutionising institutions

He said: “If we address the problems confronting leaders in various institutions, they will in turn revolutionise our institutions of higher learning.”

According to Ogunsan, the train the trainers programme will address  contemporary issues bedeviling the sector saying that by impacting positively on the vice-chancellors, provosts and rectors, students will be proactive and at graduation, become employers of labour.

He said further that the training will tackle how vice- chancellors can run their institutions with stable academic calendar. Ogunsan maintained that the choice of foreign platform for these principal stakeholders is to create distraction-free environment and create an avenue for meeting and interacting with their counterparts from other countries.

Explaining the purpose of this initiative, the chairman reiterated that it is not to compete with the NUC but to complement their efforts in bringing the university system to national and international reputations, stressing that is what the NUC has not been able to achieve in the lives of these principal stakeholders in tertiary institutions.

Wondering the calibre of facilitators that train vice chancellors, Ogunsan pointed out that the firm goes after the best hands in every country that not only take them through academic training but also drill them on how to handle students on campus.
