Cristiano Ronaldo has surpassed long-time rival Lionel Messi in non-penalty goals for club and country after scoring in Al-Nassr’s 2-1 win against Al-Fateh in the Saudi Pro League.
The Portugal skipper opened the scoring inside 17 minutes against Al-Fateh.
Salem Al Najdi drew level for Al-Fateh 12 minutes later.
Otavio, however, came up in the 72nd-minute winner to seal a win for the hosts.
The result means Al-Nassr are four points behind leaders Al-Hilal, who have a game in hand.
Ronaldo’s goal in the game sees him move up to 715th non-penalty strike for club and country.
The 39-year-old is one clear of Messi, who plies his trade at MLS club Inter Miami.
