LAGOS – Former Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, has advised Nigerians to participate actively in politics, so they could enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Mamora made the call while delivering a lecture, tagged “The church, law enactment and society” at the annual lecture of Providence Baptist Church, Dopemu, Lagos. Mamora, who lamented that Nigerians were docile when it came to national issues, noted that it was high time Nigerians moved out of their comfort zones and go beyond electing candidates, and challenge candidates representing them at federal, state and local government levels.

He said the active involvement of Nigerians in politics would enhance efficient delivery of democracy to the masses.

Also speaking, Pastor in charge of Providence Baptist Church, Dopemu, Rev. Bamidele Oduola, said the planned removal of fuel subsidy would be counter-productive, adding that there was too much poverty in the land.

He, however, urged the Federal Government to urgently rebuild the nation’s refineries as this, according to him, will eliminate importation of refined petroleum.
