Abuja –  A Senior Magistrates’ Court in Karu, Abuja has sentenced two men, Jamilu Bala, 28, and Baba Arona, 21, to 12 strokes of the cane each for disturbing the public.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Stephen Eimoge, told the court that on Oct. 25, police officers on patrol caught the convicts in a physical fight.

Eimoge said that Bala and Arona exchanged blows and inflicted injuries on each other in a public place.

He said that the offence contravened section 113 of Penal Code.

The convicts had pleaded guilty and prayed for mercy from the court.

Senior Magistrate Christopher Oba ordered that the accused be given 12 lashes each. (NAN)
