Falcons will make Nigerians smile – Chukwu

BY JACOB AJOM
Former coach of the Super Eagles, Christian Chukwu has promised that the Super Falcons of Nigeria will put back smiles to the faces of millions of Nigerian football fans who have been saddened by the downward slope Nigerian football has been witnessing in recent weeks.

Speaking on the team’s preparation ahead of the all-important clash with the Indomitable Lionesses, Chukwu who was drafted to supervise the team said, “It has been a very bad month for our football but Falcons will put a stop to the ugly trend.”

The former Rangers coach said, “the players have been training and in very high spirit. Every player is psyched up. I believe we will bring back smiles to the faces of Nigerians. It is possible.”

Chukwu explained that he was not in Falcons camp to take over the coaching job. “No! Far from it. I am not taking over. I am only there to oversee what they are doing. Uche Eucharia is still in charge.”

He said he was sure of the players in camp and their abilities. “So far, they have shown a lot of commitment and dedication. It will be fine.

Chukwu expressed surprise over the ouster of Enyimba of Aba from the CAF Champions League. “I don’t know what happened. Football is like that. It is difficult to understand what happened.”

Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu has cleared the air over his recent redeployment to the Super Falcons camp ahead of the second leg of the London Olympic qualifier against Cameroun.
