Fashola’s wife commends Indomie as LEARN Summer School ends

THE First Lady of Lagos State, Her Excellency, Dame Emmanuella Fashola has commended Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie Instant Noodles for partnering with the Lagos Empowerment and Resource Network (LEARN) for the successful hosting of the 2011 summer school for children in Lagos State.

The First Lady gave this commendation while delivering her welcome address at the closing ceremony of the 2011 LEARN summer school held last week Saturday at the Eko FM Ground, LTV 8, Ikeja, Lagos.

Mrs. Abimbola Fashola noted that the pupils have been taught the virtues of dedication, moral values, leadership and the spirit of sportsmanship, as well as various skills such as; Hair Dressing, Make-Up, Barbing, Sewing, Cooking, Event Decoration, Bead Making and so on.

She urged the participants at the summer school to make good use of the vocational skills and knowledge acquired during the summer holiday programme for their betterment and for the state and Nigeria. “I hope that the experience over the last six weeks will always remain fresh in the minds of all our pupils and that you will be good ambassadors of LEARN”, she said.

“I also belief that the skills acquired within the last six weeks will ignite a passion in you while still in school, while I pray that our good Lord will keep and protect you to fulfill and guide you to become great Nigerian leaders” she added.

As schools are preparing for resumption of the new academic session in few weeks, Fashola urged the pupils to keep working on the skills acquired during the summer programme, assuring them not to hesitate to call on LEARN should they require any assistance at anytime.

Also speaking, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulure applauded the First Lady for the LEARN initiative through which she is empowering the children of Lagos State and for investing and preparing the youth for the future.

The Deputy Governor praised the students for taking the pains to give their time to attend the summer school where they have acquire skills that will make them a better person and distinguish them from others.

It would be recalled that Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie Instant Noodles partnered with LEARN during the summer programme by providing free Lunch to students attending the summer school across the six districts of the summer school locations running from August 1, to September 10, 2011.

According to the Public Relations Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Temitope Ashiwaju, the partnership with LEARN is in line with the focus of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility which place high priority on educational development of Nigerian children.
