Danjuma petitions AGF, calls for Uzamere’s arrest

By Dapo Akinrefon

Benin – SENATOR Daisy Danjuma has called on the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to investigate, arrest and prosecute Senator Ehigie Uzamere representing Edo North Senatorial District in Edo State for alleged corrupt offences.

In an 11-page petition, Senator Danjuma urged the AGF to set in motion a process aimed at prosecuting Uzamere for offences “which he has himself admitted in several statements to various law enforcement agents and which has been a subject of adverse comments by foreign courts.”

Senator Uzamere, in a swift reaction, however, accused Danjuma of bellyaching over her defeat at the recent Senatorial elections where she stood as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate and he as the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, candidate.

While defending his qualification as an architect, he affirmed that he had never been indicted either in Nigeria or England for corruption.

Senator Danjuma stated that the petition was imperative “in the fervent hope that you will set in motion process to investigate and prosecute Senator Uzamere whose continued membership of the Senate must now be a source of considerable embarrass-ment not only to that august institution, but to the nation as a whole.”
