Dolphin’s Acheru sure of league triumph

By KATE OBODO
Dolphin FC of Port Harcourt  are confident that they will lift  the 2010/2011  league title despite a string of unstable results they have recorded in the  Premier League so far.

Speaking with Inside Out Premier League, spokesman of the club, China Acheru said the   team are determined to lift this year’s league title.

“Why we have not been doing well before now was as a result of the  three away  games we lost to Lobi, Heartland and Pillars. Again we came home and drew with Ocean Boys which was not good for us. But we were able to move a step further because our toughest  rivals, Sunshine have been playing continental games and have two outstanding matches.

The truth is that it is a league which comprises of 38 matches,  the result after 38 matches is what matters, after then we will know the winner of the league. I want to assure you that Dolphin will win the league because we are determined to do so.

We have quality players and  management  to achieve this. This is not to mention the  quality of fans that can cheer us up too,” Acheru said.

When asked if the absence of the team’s head coach, Stanley Eguma has affected the team in any way, Acheru said: “I don’t  think so, because, at the end of the first round when  he was not with us, we won 3-1 in Jos. We have also had other away wins so I do not think his absence contributed to our earlier drop in the league. Rather his absence boosted the team because of the confidence he has already built in the team.

He might be the head of the technical crew but we still have other coaches who are capable. Even if he is not there, there is a programme he has already outlined for the team to follow which has been working for us. But thank God we are back on top and I do not believe we can go down again till the end of the season,” he assured.
