Brian Munro partners ICES on women

Brian Munro Limited, makers of Munro Icing Sugar, has said it would continue to support women empowerment in Nigeria.

This was disclosed at a fund raising dinner by the International Cake Exploration Society (ICES), Nigeria chapter to promote entrepreneurship development among women.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Demola Kolade, Executive Director, Brian Munro Limited, said the partnership with ICES to promote women empowerment is in line with a long-standing corporate policy to contribute to human capital development in all communities where the company operates.

According to him, “we accepted the partnership with ICES because it provides opportunity to demonstrate our support for women in entrepreneurship, and for human capital development. For us, it is not just a showcase of the Munro Icing Sugar; it is a show of our commitment to support human capital development.

We believe in Nigeria and in Nigerians, and we would always support projects geared towards human capital development in order to enhance their ability to contribute to National growth and development”.

Earlier in a remark, Mrs. Nnena Nkwocha, Country Representative of ICES in Nigeria, said the organization is passionate about empowering women irrespective of their level of education by exposing them to worthwhile vocations that will enhance their means livelihood.

“We are passionate about empowering women and that is why we have come up with this fund raising event. We believe in the ability of individuals who are self-motivated and posses the right attitude to attract opportunities to earn a living despite challenges. These are the people ICES seeks to support with this event”, she noted.

She further said it was the objective of ICES to support the art of cake making since it is what its members do worldwide, adding that the fund raising to support entrepreneurship development among women is informed by the need to support indigent women who require funds to access and acquire skills in cake making and other vocations to enhance their wellbeing.

Nnena who explained that the event would be an annual event said the selection of beneficiaries was transparent, national, and based on need, aptitude, and vocational orientation.
