Edo State Football Association, says it will use this weekend State FA Cup final to honour some soccer personalities who have helped the growth of the game in the state and the country in general.
The final will be between Premier League promotion chasers, Bendel Insurance fc and exciting Dynamite Force both of Benin City , in the match scheduled for the new look Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in the Edo State capital.
Those listed for special honours on the day include Alabi Aissien, Willy Bazuaye and Sebastine Brodericks Imasuen, all former Super Eagles coaches.
Others listed for honours are former national team skipper Victor Oduah, Dr John Okoro and sports journalist, Felix Okugbe. In all a total of 12 soccer personalities will be honoured at the occasion according to FA Chairman, Chief Abel Ehigie and his Vice Frank Ilaboya, who has since relocated from Lagos to Benin City for the success of the event.
Media Committee boss, Ben Alaiya, also indicated that top dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include the Iyasere of Benin Kindom, Chief Sam Igbe, who will serve as the royal father of the day, Speaker of the Edo House of Assemble, Hon. Bright Omokhodion, who will serve as Special Guest of Honour, Shuaibu Amodu and Hon.Philip Shuaibu amongst others.
The State Commissioner for Sports Hon. Anita Evbuowan and the FA Cahirman are listed as the Chief hosts in the game that has been described as a showpiece of regenerating football in Edo state.
