The bodies of two drowned members of the National Youth  Service Corps  have been recovered in the coastal enclave of Bayelsa East senatorial district after days of frantic search.

It was gathered that the corpses were found floating along the Nembe creek in the Nembe local government area of the state.

The deceased corps members were reportedly involved in a boat mishap while travelling from the coastal enclave of Nembe to Yenagoa, the state capital,  Friday.

The bodies it was learnt had been deposited at an undisclosed morgue in the state capital.

According to a source, the tragic demise of the corps members could have been averted if only they had wore life jackets,  like two of their colleagues in the ill-fated boat.

The source added that when the  boat capsized after sailing from Nembe the two corps members putting on life jackets manage to stay afloat until they were rescued while the deceased corps members  got drowned before help could come their way.

The recovery of their bodies it was reliably gathered was made possible with the assistance of  local divers and youths from the fishing ports along the creek.

Attempt to get the NYSC Public Relation Officer, Pius Iyamah’s  comments proved abortive as he did not pick  his calls but a source who pleaded anonymity at the state office,  confirmed the recovery of the bodies of the drowned corps members.

The source, however, declined further comment on the identity of the victims.
