DPP wins Ughelli-South Assembly seat

MR Marvin Ojigho of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, weekend, clinched the Ughelli-South Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the rescheduled election in some wards of Ughelli-South after a stalemate in the April 26, election.

According to the results announced by Mr. Jimoh Suleiman, Collation/Returning Officer, at Otu-Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli-South Local Government Area, DPP polled 25,157 to emerge the winner, while the PDP got 22,916.

The incumbent lawmaker and PDP candidate, Olorogun Talib Tebite, lost his bid to return to the House for a second term.

Meanwhile, there is a suit before a Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba, over who is the legal candidate of the party (DPP) for the election.
