I have no problem with Siasia – Eguavoen

Olympic team coach, Austin Eguavoen has said that he enjoys the best of relationships with Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia.

Answering questions on Mastersports on AIT Tuesday, Eguavoen said, “Samson and I have no problems. What happened the last time over the invitation of players was a mix up which resulted from a communication gap. We submitted our list the same day Siasia submitted his list of invited players. That was why some players had multiple invitations.

“Samson and I have no problem. We sit down every time and discuss issueas of common interest, because we are working for a common cause.”

He said he owed the 4-1 trouncing of Equatorial Guinea in the second leg of the 2012 Olympic qualifier to the players. “I give kudos to my players, especially with the absence of some of the key players who were part of the team in the first leg. We got that result because of hard work. Hardwork pays,” the coach remarked.

He admitted having a glut of stars, a development which has given him the pleasant problem of selection. “I have selection problem right now because we have a pool of very talented players in the squad.”

Eguavoen said the second leg result was also a credit to attacking football. “We went to prove that the first leg result was not a fluke. We will not change our style.”
