OSOGBO-FEW hours to tomorrow’s National Assembly election, there was a bomb scare at Okuku, hometown of the immediate past Governor of Osun State and senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola during the last campaign of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the town.
But the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusegun Solomon, dismissed the allegation of a bomb scare, saying that what was discovered at the venue of the ACN rally was a “mere grenade.”
Vanguard gathered that the Anti-Bomb Disposal Unit of the Nigeria Police was at the Okuku Town Hall site of the rally for the normal pre-inspection sweep ahead of the governor’s campaign train only to discover a substance suspected to be a bomb planted under the podium.
The team, according to reliable source, quickly detonated the substance and made adequate report of the incident to the appropriate quarters while the police kept close watch over the entire campaign ground and the community.
The Osun State chapter of ACN described as devilish, criminal and ungodly the conduct of those that allegedly planted the substance under the podium erected for the campaign of the party.
