Sokoto – Sokoto State Police Command said, Wednesday,  that about  4000 policemen would be deployed  to ensure a hitch-free April polls in the state.

The  Commissioner of Police in Sokoto, Alhaji Adeola Adeniji, said the move was aimed at  ensuring adequate security within the metropolis and its environs during the elections.

He said that each polling unit would be manned by a policeman to ensure a free and credible polls.

Adewola added that the police command would partner with FRSC, Immigration, Customs  and civil defence to ensure maximum patrol during the polls.

The police chief pointed out that the command had identified black spots in the metropolis and would intensify  patrol in those areas to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

He warned politicians against the use of thugs to foment trouble during the elections.
