The stakeholders in the Nigerian maritime industry, their agents, transport haulage operators and other port users have been urged to maintain the peace at sea ports, airports, and land border stations as they go about their legitimate businesses of import processes and clearance.

The management of the NCS in a statement, yesterday, advised that all relevant stakeholders at nations Port formations should go about their normal business while the service assured the public of its readiness to discharge it obligation in the areas of revenue collection, suppression of smuggling and the facilitation of international trade.

The statement further affirms the readiness of the NCS to dialogue with every relevant stakeholders in a bid to generate the necessary and much needed revenue to propel the nation ‘s  economy.

The management of the NCS while reacting to a proposed plan to disrupt activities at the nation’s sea port and airport by a group called “save freight forwards group” was of the opinion that meaningful and constructive dialogue rather than mass action was the needed panacea at this point in time in the nation’s  march towards economic viability.”

In the mean time, the NCS has directed the comptroller of customs Federal Operation Unit, zone A, to mobilize all officers in the command on stand -by in anticipation of any effort by any group to destabilize lawful operations.
