Printing business is sure not a business one will have to scratch his or her head to remember because  virtually every one have in one way or the other done a printing job either directly or indirectly.

In printing, lithography is a very important process every printer must go through to get a printing job done, not minding  the cost of machineries.

Kenny Bright, the Chief executive,  KennyBright Nigeria Limited, a father of three who hails from Efon Alaye in Ekiti State is a professional lithographer who makes  a living from his little and clustered shop making lithographic plates for printing using his locally made machine constructed with wood, foam and a glass.

Despite the massive cry out by so many business people over the epileptic power supply in the country, Kenny Bright claims he has no problem with that narrating how he does his business when there is no light. “If I collect jobs from customers like that, I need to make sure I deliver to them at the appropriate time. You know one thing about printing jobs is we work to deliver at the appropriate time and if you fail to deliver, you loose. So what we do when there is no light, we use generator and if the money is not sufficient enough for us to buy diesel, we have alternative of using a locally made machine that uses the sun as source of energy.

We use wood to carve it and then we support it with foam to serve as vacuum as the normal machine while the sun will serve as light. Instead of us to stay idle because there is no light, then we make use of the local made lithographic machine which we construct our local way.

You know, like they say, “An idle mind is the devils workshop”, With the little money we make on a daily bases, it helps us sustain our daily expenses. In order words, to do the plate, what we do is to lay the page, then put it in the Local machine, and then expose it to the sun  for like 30seconds to about a minute, then we take it inside and then develop with chemical and at the end, we get the same thing as we get when we use machine to operate and the funniest part of it is that most times it even gives us better job than what the machines produces at times.”

Speaking about the durability and cost of machine, he said, “With about 10,000 or even 50,000 you can get the local machine, While the electric machine is as expensive as 250,000 for the second hand one as  the locally made electric machine is about a 100,000. Despite all these the Local machine is still durable and saves cost and at the same time produces better jobs at times and at the same time faster than the electric machine.

Though some people in the printing business knows about the machine but it not all of them that knows how well to make use of it and that is the reason so many of them don’t go about using it. Though no one wants to stress him or her self, the machine still remains the best because it saves cost stating  that he has been using the machine for over 15 years, even before he got the electric Machine and still makes use of it. He also added that since it gives him a better job in most cases, he wouldn’t want to discard it when it still serves him adding that most times the local machine brings out a better job than the modern one.

“Though I have an electric machine but was able to buy the machine with the money I raised haven worked with the locally made machine for a long time and ever since, the job has helped me so much in sustaining the well being of  my  family and at the same time, taking care of my daily needs. The money I have been making so far on the business for some time now can erect a storey building and can even buy a Jeep car. Only daily expenses does not make money to accumulate on time. I am really enjoying the machine. What I really believe in life is that any job you are doing, you have to do it for the love of it and when you do love it, it helps you think of new innovations to progress. Looking at our country today, so many of our youths, does not like working. Most times when people see me making use of this machine to produce, they keep looking at me, they even see me as some one who is in sane but it is not like that. I know what I am gaining from the machine.  I don’t think there is anything I lack because I can afford the little that can make I and my family comfortable, i live comfortably in the society and as well contributes well in the house of God. The locally made machine serves me better than the electric machine.

“The only problem is that the stress we get is a little more than that of the Electric machine we use. At the end of the day after making use of the machine, you get so tired that you have to take an Analgetic to keep you strong again. The machine is very durable and last longer. It does not have any problem because rain cannot spoil it and nothing is of harm to it except for the glass that needs to be covered carefully because it is a bit fragile.
