WARRI — THE pro-tracted tussle between two factions in Orogun Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, over the position of president-general, has finally been laid to rest with the emergence of Mr. Jadin Ebinum as President-General of Orogun Progress Union.

He was sworn in at the Palace of HRH Otagba Eferobome 1, the Okpara-Uku of Orogun.

Performing the installation ceremony,, the Okpara-Uku prayed for peace and development of Orogun Kingdom. The event was well attended by the council of chiefs, the Olotu-Uku of the Kingdom among others.

In his acceptance speech,  Ebinum, promised to maintain peace and work with all relevant authorities to bring development to the kingdom.

Ebinum said that Orogun Progress Union founded 65 years ago became dormant about 20 years ago due to internal wrangling, political bickering and supremacy war, which was resolved by the peace and reconciliation committee set up by the Orogun community.

He promised on behalf of his executive, to work towards achieving the aims and objectives of the association as enshrined in its constitution,  reviving all the branches, both at home and in the Diaspora, adding that he would also resuscitate the committees of the Union.

“We shall be transparent in running of the affairs of the Union and offer purposeful leadership with the fear of God,” he said.

Our decisions and actions shall be guided by the tenets of the constitution and good conscience. Members can belong to any political party of their choice but the Union shall remain insulated from partisan politics. Reconciliation is our watchword.”

He solicited the cooperation of all and noted that all the cases in courts that emanated from 4th August, 2009 election have been withdrawn so that the people can live in peace as before and to move Orogun Kingdom forward.

Barr. Irikevwie Ebinum specially thanked the reconciliation team led by Bishop (Chief) Frank D. Atagana and the peace and reconciliation committee led by Hon. Lucky Oghene Omoru in their efforts to find solution to the crises that followed the election of 4th August, 2009.
