ABUJA — A group, Kogi Central Progressive Elites, on Thursday expressed support for the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, condemning what it described as politically motivated attacks against her.
The group described the attacks as desperate political manoeuvres aimed at undermining the senator’s growing influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by its Assistant Publicity Secretary, Comrade Isah Jonny, the group alleged that the agitation was being sponsored by individuals uncomfortable with Akpoti-Uduaghan’s growing popularity and acceptance across Kogi Central.
While acknowledging the importance of public accountability, the group cautioned against the use of public institutions for political intimidation, stressing that allegations should not be treated as proof of wrongdoing.
It maintained that Akpoti-Uduaghan enjoyed the support of her constituents, citing her legislative contributions, grassroots engagement and empowerment initiatives as evidence of her commitment to effective representation and public service.
The group also dismissed threats to mobilise against her return to the National Assembly, challenging her opponents to present credible alternatives, verifiable achievements and concrete development plans instead of resorting to personal attacks.
Expressing confidence in her political resilience, the group urged her supporters to remain calm and united, while calling on political actors to embrace constructive engagement and issue-based campaigns.
“The people have a voice, the people have a choice, and the people reserve the ultimate democratic mandate. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan must not be distracted from the responsibility of representing her people,” the group declared.
It said the 2027 general elections would provide the people of Kogi Central an opportunity to assess her performance and decide whether to renew her mandate through the ballot.
