Key stakeholders across Lagos State on Monday converged at a high-level strategic meeting convened by the Eko57 support group, a grassroots mobilisation and civic engagement movement operating across the state’s 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The meeting, led by its convener, influencer Lege Miami, focused on strengthening coordination among grassroots structures and outlining strategies aimed at enhancing community development and political engagement across Lagos State.

In his address, Lege Miami said the group’s activities are centred on improving socio-economic conditions at the community level while also fostering stronger engagement between citizens and government.

He noted that Eko57 is building a structure designed to connect directly with residents at the grassroots, with emphasis on youth empowerment, community initiatives, and improved communication between citizens and policymakers.

“The strength of any movement lies in its connection with the people,” he said. “Eko57 is committed to ensuring that development is felt at the grassroots through structured engagement and coordinated action.”

Discussions at the meeting focused on strategies to improve livelihoods, including youth empowerment programmes, community-based initiatives, and enhanced collaboration with government representatives to ensure effective policy implementation at the local level.

Participants also explored frameworks for deeper partnerships with public office holders to promote inclusive development and strengthen civic participation across communities.

Prominent members of the group’s executive council, including Nollywood figures Remi Surutu and Yomi Fashlanso, were in attendance and reaffirmed their support for the group’s objectives.

Local government representatives at the meeting emphasised the importance of unity and structured coordination in achieving sustainable development outcomes across the state.

The meeting ended with a pledge by stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts, expand community engagement, and strengthen advocacy for policies that directly impact residents of Lagos State.
