Residents and officials of Agege Local Government on Friday celebrated the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adewale Sodiq Azeez, as he marked his birthday with a series of events across the council area.
The celebration, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdul-Ganiu Vinod Obasa, drew management staff, political office holders, councillors, council workers, party members, and residents, reflecting what many described as the Vice Chairman’s strong grassroots appeal.
At the Agege Local Government Secretariat, Obasa paid tribute to Azeez, commending his dedication to duty, youthful energy, and connection with the people. He described him as a reliable partner in governance and community development.
Council staff also offered prayers and goodwill messages, praising Azeez for his humility, accessibility, and cordial relationship with workers.
Activities later shifted to the Keke Primary School Mini Stadium, where residents, youth groups, and supporters gathered for a novelty football match organised in his honour. The event, attended by Obasa and other dignitaries, transitioned into an evening of entertainment, with music, food, and social activities lasting into the night.
Observers said the large turnout at both venues underscored Azeez’s popularity among residents and political associates in the area.
Speaking at the event, Azeez thanked the chairman, staff, friends, and supporters for the show of affection, reaffirming his commitment to the unity, growth, and development of Agege.
The celebration highlighted the Vice Chairman’s continued influence within the local government, with supporters describing him as a leader whose simplicity and passion for community service have earned him widespread admiration.
