Over 2,000 women from Ila Federal Constituency in Osun State have staged a solidarity rally in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 election.
The women, mostly APC members, converged on Ila-Orangun—the hometown of Bisi Akande—where they also declared support for the House of Representatives aspirant, Adeniyi Ismail, ahead of next year’s legislative elections.
Participants from Boluwaduro, Ifedayo and Ila-Orangun local government areas gathered at Akande’s residence and marched through major parts of the town, including Ile-Obalumon, Oke-Ede, Complex, Oja, Ita Aperin, Ajegunle, Ile Obasolo, Ile Oloye, Ile-Aseda and Afin.
The rally, organised under the aegis of AIO Women and led by coordinator Mrs. Tawakalt Suleiman, later moved to the palace of the Orangun of Ila. The procession reportedly covered about 10.3 kilometres under the watch of security operatives who maintained order.
Speaking during the rally, Suleiman said the mobilisation was aimed at galvanising grassroots support for the APC.
“We came together from Ila, Boluwaduro and Ifedayo councils to canvass support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our governorship candidate, AMBO, and our own candidate, Hon. Adeniyi Ismail.
“We have been engaging voters through door-to-door campaigns and mobilising new registrants for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), which ended on Saturday. This rally is to reinforce our commitment to the APC,” she said.
Addressing the gathering at the APC secretariat, Adeniyi expressed confidence in the party’s chances, citing ongoing mobilisation efforts.
“With the massive mobilisation of new voters through CVR and sustained door-to-door campaigns by youths and women, we are confident of a landslide victory for APC in this federal constituency,” he said.
He added that residents of the three councils were eager for a change in governance, expressing optimism about the party’s prospects in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
Adeniyi urged the women to sustain grassroots mobilisation across polling units, wards and local government areas, assuring them of adequate logistical support to ensure success at the polls.
